Below are some resources from within our community to help parents.

FamilySmart

FamilySmart offers Parent Peer Support, Monthly Events, Resources and Workshops to support the mental health of children, youth and families. FamilySmart helps children and young people by helping their family and other caring adults.  We know children and young people do better when the adults who care about them are supported.

Our Parent Peer Support Workers provide emotional support, information, resources and help in navigating services for all parents and caregivers with a child or youth with mental health and/or substance use challenges.  Our services are free and there is no waitlist. www.familysmart.ca

Digital Awareness

TELUS Wise has put together a guide to popular social media and messaging apps.

Social media and messaging apps have created new cultures and languages among youth that have some parents a little confused. With apps evolving all the time, children spending countless hours on social media, it’s important for parents to understand the basics to help keep their kids as well as their privacy and well-being in check.

This guide offers parents a high-level overview of the most popular social media and messaging apps, how they work, and important safety tips. Use this tool to help the kids in your life stay safe online.
